The Community Foundation of OEC Awards $6,000 in Community Grants

The Community Foundation of ²»Á¼ÈËÑо¿Ëù's Electric Cooperatives presented a $2,500 donation to NRECA Board President Tony Anderson. Columbus, OHÌý- The board of The Community Foundation of ²»Á¼ÈËÑо¿Ëù’s Electric Cooperatives approved seven grants totaling $6,000 to various charitable organizations nominated by OEC and cooperative employees.
The grants were approved in late July 2024, and funds are in the process of being presented to the community organizations.

The board approved the following grants:

  • The United Way of Union County—$500
  • The Chase Haley Project—$500
  • The Humane Society of Delaware County—$1,000
  • The American Heart Association—$1,000
  • Rico Pet Recovery—$500
  • The Matthew 712 Project—$1,000
  • Karis’ Cause for American Childhood Cancer—$1,500

The United Way of Union County
The grant was a matching grant with Union County Electric to support Dolly Parton Imagination Library, which provides free books to children in Union County.

The Chase Haley Project
The Chase Haley Project focuses on the promotion of mental wellness. South Central Power employees volunteer for the project and the co-op actively supports the project with donations through the local United Way.

The Humane Society of Delaware County
The Humane Society of Delaware County strives to ensure the best possible treatment, care and placement of animals in need.

The American Heart Association
The AHA is dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of all Americans, and an OEC employee serves on the Young Professionals Board of the AHA for Central ²»Á¼ÈËÑо¿Ëù. Ìý

Rico Pet Recovery
Rico Pet Recovery is a nonprofit group dedicated to lost pet recovery in the Central ²»Á¼ÈËÑо¿Ëù area.

The Matthew 712 Project
The purpose of The Matthew 712 Project is to help rural villages in Zambia with the resources needed to provide clean water access points via drilling water wells in Zambian communities, thus creating healthy, sustainable environments that increase life expectancy, educational opportunities and spiritual growth.Ìý

Karis’ Cause for American Childhood Cancer
Karis’ Cause is dedicated to providing support and assistance to families facing a childhood cancer diagnosis and undergoing treatment on the 12th floor at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. The 12th floor at NCH houses the Hematology, Oncology and Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) centers, responsible for treating patients with the rarest cancers and blood disorders.Ìý

The Community Foundation of ²»Á¼ÈËÑо¿Ëù’s Electric Cooperatives thanks everyone who submitted requests for grants on behalf of non-profit organizations in our communities, working to improve the quality of life for all.Ìý

The foundation accepts requests for ²»Á¼ÈËÑо¿Ëù cooperative employees around the state and employees of ²»Á¼ÈËÑо¿Ëù's Electric Cooperatives.Ìý
