2024 Louise Freeland and OLSA Scholarship Winners Announced

²»Á¼ÈËÑо¿Ëù’s Electric Cooperatives awarded 11 high school seniors for exceptional academic achievement in the Louise Freeland and ²»Á¼ÈËÑо¿Ëù Line Supervisors Association (OLSA) scholarship competitions, held on March 5.

Two panels of independent judges reviewed the applications and interviewed the students before determining the winners.

Louise Freeland Scholarships

Named in honor of a long-time employee of ²»Á¼ÈËÑо¿Ëù's Rural Electric Cooperatives, the Louise Freeland Scholarships are awarded annually to children of electric cooperative employees and trustees.

Blayne Barker, Matthew Lawrence, Avery Sadlowski, and Marin Hedges were awarded $3,000 Freeland scholarships.

Barker is a senior at Amanda Clearcreek High School. His father, Bryan Barker, works for South Central Power Co.

Lawrence is a senior at Gallia Academy High School. His mother, Melanie Lawrence, works at Buckeye Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc.

Sadlowski is a senior at The Linsly School. Her mother, Melissa Sadlowski, works for Cardinal Operating Company.

Hedges is a senior at Wheeling Park High School. Her father, Bradley Hedges, works for Cardinal Operating Company.

Garen Ryan, Mitchell Ortiz, Nate Riegle, and Lily Schneider were awarded $1,200 Freeland scholarships.

Ryan is a senior at Hillsboro High School. His father, Kelly Ryan, works for South Central Power Co.

Ortiz is a senior at Fairfield Union High School. His father, Christopher T. Ortiz, works at South Central Power Co.

Riegle is a senior at Findlay High School. His father, Allen Riegle, works for Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative, Inc.

Schneider is a senior at Symmes Valley High School. Her father, Erin Schneider, works for Buckeye Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc.

²»Á¼ÈËÑо¿Ëù Line Supervisors Association Scholarships

Katelyn Barnhart, Emily Bone, and Taylor Ralston were awarded first, second, and third place, respectively, in the OLSA Scholarship competition.

OLSA is an association of the line supervisors of 25 electric cooperatives in ²»Á¼ÈËÑо¿Ëù and West Virginia, affiliated with ²»Á¼ÈËÑо¿Ëù’s Electric Cooperatives.

Barnhart, winner of the $2,000 first-place scholarship, is a senior at Bowling Green High School. Her father, William Barnhart, works for Hancock-Wood Electric Cooperative, Inc.

Bone, winner of the $1,500 second-place scholarship, is a senior at Licking Valley High School. Her father, Andy Bone, works for Guernsey-Muskingum Electric Cooperative, Inc.

Ralston, winner of the $1,000 third-place scholarship, is a senior at Manchester High School. Her father, David Ralston, works at Adams Rural Electric Cooperative, Inc.
